How many tons is a cubic yard of gravel?

A cubic yard of typical gravel weighs about 1.4 short tons (≈2,800 lb), but the range is roughly 1.3–1.6 tons depending on moisture and stone size. Crushed stone and wet sand are heavier; always confirm the density with your supplier or batch ticket before ordering.
