About UnitFig

UnitFig is a free, fast, and accurate unit converter designed specifically for American users. We help you convert US customary units to metric for fitness tracking, weather temperature, cooking measurements, and construction purposes.

Who runs UnitFig

UnitFig is an independent editorial research project run by The UnitFig Editorial Team. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any standards body, testing company, school, or manufacturer — and we do not sell conversion equipment or software. The team is responsible for every page, figure and tool on this site.

Our approach

Conversion factors and formulas are compiled from primary sources — the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the official International System of Units (SI) brochure — with sources cited on every page and tool. Every factor is verified against its reference source before publication; anything unverified is marked as pending or omitted. Values are refreshed whenever a standard is updated.

Our Mission

We believe that unit conversion should be simple, accurate, and accessible to everyone. Our goal is to provide the most accurate US customary to metric conversions while maintaining the highest standards of data integrity and user experience.

What We Offer

  • Accurate Conversions: All conversions use official US customary standards.
  • Instant Results: Type your value and get the exact conversion instantly.
  • No Registration: Use all converters completely free.
  • Educational Content: Detailed articles on conversion standards and usage.

US Customary Standards

The United States uses a unique measurement system called US customary units, which differs from both the metric system and the British imperial system. UnitFig provides conversions for the most commonly used US customary units:

  • Weight: Pounds (lbs) to Kilograms (kg) using the avoirdupois pound (1 lb = 0.45359237 kg)
  • Temperature: Fahrenheit (°F) to Celsius (°C) using the standard formula
  • Length: Feet (ft) to Meters (m) using the international foot (1 ft = 0.3048 m)
  • Volume: US Gallons to Liters (1 US gal = 3.785411784 L) and US Cups to mL (1 US cup = 236.588 mL)

What we are not

We are not a law firm, a medical provider, an engineering firm, or a certification body. Where professional help is needed — medical dosing, engineering, trade, or legal compliance — we point to the official authority and reputable licensed providers, but we hold no special endorsement from them and recommendations are never paid for. Converter outputs are educational references, not certified measurements — always verify critical results against a primary source.
